The End of the Earth - or Tian Ya Hai Jiao in Chinese - is doubtlessly Sanya's most famous scenic beauty spot and the highlight for many visitors who come to experience China's most southerly point. The cape, which is located about 20 km west of Sanya City, is a perfect blend of rich colours; with bleached white sands, turquoise seas, deep blue skies and verdant hills. Rising over the beach is an ancient rock formation, inscribed with characters meaning "The Edge of the Sky." A phrase first scribed by Chengzhe, chief magistrate of Yazhou Prefecture in the Qing Dynasty. Another inscription reads ‘The End of the Sea;' a perfect summarization of the infinite depth of this scene.

In times gone past, criminals were exiled to this isolated cove as a form of punishment. The legendary Song Dynasty poet Su Dongpo was banished here, among thousands of others. Over recent years, the cape has been transformed into an international-class tourist attraction, though local Li people still offer their traditional wares to visitors as they have done for centuries.

The group then proceeds to the Jinrun Crystal Culture Centre. As one of Hainan's specialty products, crystal is an ideal souvenir for visitors to the island. As well as shopping, it is also possible to learn something of the cultural significance of the crystal in China.
