Detailed Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 | |
Shanghai-Hangzhou
Activities: Pick up and transfer to Hangzhou, Tiger Running Spring Park, Lingyin Temple, Longjing Tea Village.
Meals: Chinese Lunch
Transportation: Bus
Your Shanghai local guide will pick you up at the hotel and accompany you to Hangzhou.
First visit Tiger Running Spring Park. According to legend, a monk named Xingkong, who once lived in Daci Temple, planned to leave the temple due to lack of water. But before he actually left, he had a dream that a god told him two mighty tigers would provide a fountain at the temple. The next day, two tigers dug a hole where the spring now gushes. This legend is the origin of the spring's name.
After a Chinese lunch at a local restaurant, proceed to Lingyin Temple, one of the most famous Buddhist temples in China. The name of the temple is indicative of its peaceful natural surroundings. The temple is a well-hidden retreat covered on three sides by hills. Since Lingyin Temple is a significant Buddhist temple for the region, it holds an extensive collection of artifacts and treasures related to Buddhism. Thousands of people come here everyday to worship and find peace.
Next proceed to the Longjing Tea Village where you can have a nice cup of the famous Longjing Tea.
Return to the hotel. Your local guide will suggest a restaurant option and shopping destination for the rest of the day.
Today's activities end.

Meals: Breakfast, Chinese Lunch
Transportation: Bus
After breakfast, your local guide picks you up at the hotel and accompanies you to West Lake, the jewel of Hangzhou, where you will have a wonderful cruise. The lake is surrounded by hills on three sides and faces downtown Hangzhou on the fourth side. There are two causeways, Bai and Su, which separate the lake into five parts. The lake also has three manmade islands: Three Pools Mirroring the moon, Mid-lake Pavilion, and Mr. Ruan Yuan's Mount.
After a Chinese lunch at a local restaurant, your guide will accompany you to the Silk Factory, where you can enjoy a wonderful show of silk clothes. Then you will have some time to choose gifts for your family and friends.
Next proceed to General Yue Fei's Mausoleum. The mausoleum is inscribed: "Endless loyalty and devotion to one's country." According to popular belief, his mother tattooed this quote on his back when he joined the Song Dynasty army. The Mausoleum of General Yue Fei's Mausoleum is one of Hangzhou's most popular attractions for Chinese visitors perhaps because of the pride it makes them feel.
